"NASA's Curiosity heads for Mars, and opens a new chapter for mankind" by Kevin Orrman-Rossiter
On July 20, 1969 Neil Armstrong uttered one of the most remembered quotes of the 20th century, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind...." Millions of people heard these words as they watched, via grainy black and white television images, Neil Armstrong step from the landing pad of the Lunar Module onto the surface of the Moon.
With that single step Neil Armstrong became the first human to step foot onto a celestial body other than the Earth. He was joined 14 minutes later by Buzz Aldrin.
To date, 12 people have stepped foot on the Moon. The last Apollo mission was Apollo 17 in December 1972; Apollo 18, 19 and 20 were scrapped due to rising costs.
At 2:21am (AEDT) on November 26, 2011, the Mars Science Laboratory will launch from Cape Canaveral in Florida. The payload of this spaceship is not humans. Rather, it's a remarkable 899 kilogram, six-wheeled Martian rover named Curiosity.

"There's no time like present to let yourself go" by Jessica Irvine (Economics Editor)
We've honed our minds into highly buffed machines with washboard abs, but let our bodies go to seed. We feel busier than ever and yet we've never been so sedentary. A survey released this month by the Bureau of Statistics found six out of 10 adults do not meet the recommended target of half an hour of moderate exercise on most days of the week. Women were even less likely than men to meet the guidelines. So, is it really true we don't have enough time to exercise? Official time use figures, also from the bureau, suggest not.
The co-founder of the executive coaching firm Clarity Now, Kevin Orrman-Rossiter, says that just becoming more mindful of how we are spending our time can help. ''We have become creatures of habit. We work, come home, watch television and go to bed.'' We need to realise how we spend our time is a choice, according to Orrman-Rossiter. ''We have all got to work to pay bills and meet all those necessities, but you can step back out of it and ask: 'what am I going to do? Will I flop in front of the television and become an observer of life or do I participate and go for a walk instead?'' Read more...... "Instead of Working read this article" by Dr Kevin Orrman-Rossiter.
If procrastination is irrational and against our better interests, why are so many of us procrastinators and can we change? I thumbed through a number of of science and business magazines on my desk, checked my emails, Facebook and twitter messages, looked to see if there were any new comments on my blog postings, and then finally started writing this article. Does that seem vaguely familiar?. Read more..... Published as the feature article in HR Monthly, September 2011 issue.
